Goldendoodle Dog Grooming by Fluffs

Your friendly local dog groomer covering Huntington

If you are in Huntington, you are only a short hop up the road from my little salon in Wigginton, and I would love to welcome you and your dog in. So many of the dogs I see come from your side of the ring road, whether their walks take them along the River Foss, across the fields near Huntington Sports Club, or on a wander round Monks Cross after the shops. Muddy paws and knotted coats come with all of that, and sorting them out is exactly what I am here for.

Every appointment with me is calm, unhurried and one-to-one, just your dog and me, never a busy line of crates or a conveyor belt of pets waiting their turn. I am crate-free by choice, because it makes such a difference to nervous dogs and to puppies still finding their feet. I hold Level 2 and 3 qualifications in dog grooming, so I can properly read your dog's coat and personality rather than rush through a fixed routine.

A typical groom is a gentle, thorough affair. I start with a warm bath and a proper dry, then move on to clipping or scissoring to suit the coat, before finishing with nails and a careful check and clean of the ears. Because I only ever have one dog in at a time, I can go at their pace and stop for a fuss whenever they need it.

Getting here from Huntington is genuinely easy, with the outer ring road putting Wigginton just a few minutes away and parking right outside the door. From first-time puppies to older dogs who like things slow and gentle, I take the time to get it right so they head home comfortable, cared for and looking their best.

About Fluffs

I am Lucy, the groomer and owner of Fluffs. I hold my City and Guilds Level 2 and 3 Diplomas in Dog Grooming, with extra training in hand stripping, but honestly it is the dogs I love most. Getting to know each one and seeing them leave happy and comfortable is my favourite part of the job. There is more about me on my About page.

FAQs

Common Questions

When can I bring my Huntington puppy for their first visit?

Bring your puppy along as soon as they have finished their second set of vaccinations, which is usually at about 12 to 14 weeks. I run gentle Puppy Introduction sessions that are all about building happy associations, so we keep things short and full of cuddles. The idea is that your little one learns the salon in Wigginton is a friendly place to visit, long before they need their first proper groom.

How often should I book my dog in for a full groom?

For most dogs I suggest a full groom every six to eight weeks, which keeps the coat healthy and stops knots and matting taking hold between visits. Dogs with woollier or faster growing coats often suit the shorter end of that, while smoother coated dogs can happily stretch a little longer. When you first come over from Huntington I will look at your dog's coat and suggest a cycle that genuinely fits them rather than a one size fits all rule.

How long does a full groom take at Fluffs?

A full groom usually takes around two to three hours, depending on your dog's size and the state of their coat. Because I work one to one, there is no rushing your dog through, and I will drop you a quick text roughly fifteen minutes before they are ready. That gives you time to finish your errands around Huntington or Monks Cross and arrive back just as your pup is looking their smartest.

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens, so if you need to rearrange I simply ask for at least 24 hours of notice. That gives me the chance to offer your slot to another dog on the waiting list. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a small fee, but a quick call or message the day before is always absolutely fine.
